Functional Health Coaching is a partnership informed by Functional Medicine. A Functional perspective addresses wellness by simultaneously considering all root causes of dysfunction and core health categories such as diet, exercise, and stress. Coaching motivates and guides you toward the health changes you want to make. It’s an open, safe, non-judgmental space to talk about whatever is important to you. And it’s where you seize control of your life from chronic health problems and pain to do more and feel better. In coaching sessions, we’ll make practical plans that set you up for success in the face of any obstacle.

My Work

I’m Christopher Blakeslee, an ADAPT-Certified Functional Health Coach through Chris Kresser’s ADAPT Academy. I help individuals like you who are struggling with chronic health problems. My practice covers problems such as autoimmune disease symptoms, chronic pain, neuropathic pain, traumatic injury, headaches, arthritis, and back pain. If you’re tired of taking pills and looking for solutions for chronic pain or cures for chronic illness, or if you’ve tried all the conventional and natural remedies for chronic health problems and still had no success, this is the place for you to turn your health around!

My Struggle and Triumph

I’ve conquered absolute hell with my chronic health problems. Because of that experience, I drive myself to help others in similar health scenarios. I had autoimmune diseases for thirty-four years. They disabled me for fifteen years. I lived through the sort of constant pain and bizarre symptoms that I never imagined was possible. For most of my life, I suffered from severe interstitial cystitis, fibromyalgia, and irritable bowel syndrome. I had excruciating nerve pain in my head, shoulders, neck, waist, and legs.

I searched in vain for cures from conventional and alternative medicine and spent fifteen years studying everything about health. Today, my conditions are in remission because I developed an integrated view of mind and body in health. The four pillars of wellness I discovered in my studies led me back to robust and resilient health: Functional Medicine, Lifestyle Medicine, a survive-and-thrive mindset, and a pain neuroscience education I received from former Mayo Clinic doctor Jim Lemons. I was able to regain control of my life by combining those disciplines and making lifestyle changes in six core categories. Those areas are diet and supplementation, stress management, exercise, sleep and sunshine, environmental toxin exposure and dealing with stealth infections, and reducing my reliance on medications. Now, I’m healthier and have a better life than I’ve ever had!

My Mission

After overcoming my health problems, I realized that I had to share my breakthrough with the world. To further that mission, I went into health coaching and health consulting. Additionally, I began working with Dr. Lemons to write a book on managing and thriving through chronic health conditions. The book discusses the four pillars of health and six core categories of health mentioned above and how to implement them, and much more. The book is informed by my experience from all phases of my recovery so that it applies to every health context: rock-bottom, intermediate, and nearly healthy but still symptomatic.

I have a passion for helping others who have chronic health problems. I want to help turn the tide of how they are dealt with, and I don’t want anyone else to go through what I did. A central purpose of my life is to help people like you get back in control of your life so you can get back to doing what you love! I can’t wait to be a part of your health journey.
