I’ve conquered absolute hell with my chronic health problems. Because of that experience, I am driven to help others in similar health scenarios. I had autoimmune diseases for thirty-four years and was disabled by them for fifteen years. I lived through the sort of constant pain, and bizarre symptoms that I never imagined was possible until I experienced them all for years on end. I suffered from severe interstitial cystitis, fibromyalgia, and irritable bowel syndrome. I had excruciating neuropathy in my trigeminal and occipital nerves and my shoulders, neck, head, waist, and legs.
I searched in vain for cures from conventional and alternative medicine and spent fifteen years studying everything I could find about health. Today, my conditions are in remission because I developed an integrated view of mind and body in health. The four pillars of health I discovered in my studies led me back to robust and resilient health: Functional Medicine, Lifestyle Medicine, a survive-and-thrive mindset, and a pain neuroscience education I received from former Mayo Clinic doctor Jim Lemons. I was able to break free from the years of misery and pain to regain control of my life by combining those disciplines and making lifestyle changes in six core categories. Those areas are diet and supplementation, stress management, exercise, sleep and sunshine, environmental toxin exposure and dealing with stealth infections, and reducing my reliance on medications. Now, I’m healthier and have a better life than I’ve ever had!
